    those who want to try the oboe or bassoon for the first time!

    1:00 p.m. – For students who are considering switching to oboe or bassoon from any other instrument (MS/HS, grades 7 – 12)

    Guided by Dr. Emily Foltz and Dr. Austin Way, Washburn University faculty members, students can try out the oboe and/or bassoon and learn basic technique. Students may consider checking out an instrument from their school to bring to the event. There will also be instruments available on site. Reeds will be provided.

    2:00 p.m. – For all oboists and bassoonists (MS/HS, grades 7 – 12)

    Activities may include an introduction to reed making, tone and technique development activities and reading through double reed ensemble music.

    There are no fees for this event, but registration is required (due by 7/1/2026). For questions, contact Dr. Foltz at emily.foltz@washburn.edu.
